Linas Linkevicius, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, expressed his hope to develop bilateral relations with the UAE in various fields, expecting that UAE-Lithuanian economic cooperation relations will grow by 50% during the next stage.

He stated that the UAE is one of the most developed countries in the Middle East and we wish to enhance economic cooperation with it and bring more Emirati investments in the industrial and agricultural fields. He praised the results of his talks with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

He described his country\’s participation in Expo 2020 as the most important cultural and tourism event for his country, stressing that Lithuania seeks through its participation in the Expo to inform the people of the Emirates, the Gulf region, the Middle East and the world about Lithuania\’s civilization and culture and the extent of its progress in science and technology, environmental conservation, education, and information technology.

He said that there are many cooperation relations on the economic and commercial levels, noting the close cooperation in the field of technical solutions and digital defense systems.

He said: Our commitment to strengthening bilateral relations is demonstrated by the opening of an embassy in Abu Dhabi. The two countries have also worked to establish strong cultural ties, as Lithuania intends to carry out many cultural activities and joint initiatives, considering culture as a bridge to rapprochement between the peoples of the two friendly countries. He also expressed his hope for the opening of a direct air route to connect the UAE and Lithuania and stimulate the tourism and commercial exchange movement.
